Working Principle of Turbo Pump

Turbo pump is a common fluid machine used to transport liquid or gas from one location to another. It generates fluid pressure based on the rotational motion of turbine blades.

 

The working principle of turbo pump can be simply described as the following steps:

1. Turbine blades: The core part of turbo pump is turbine blades. These blades are designed to be curved, usually in a spiral shape. When turbo pump starts, turbine blades begin to rotate.

 

2. Rotor and stator: Turbo pump usually consists of a rotor and a stator. The rotor is a rotating part, while the stator is a fixed part. The blades on the rotor cooperate with the blades on the stator to form a series of flow channels.

 

3. Kinetic energy conversion: When the turbine blades rotate, they draw fluid from the inlet into the pump through centrifugal force and then push it to the outlet. The liquid or gas forms a rotating kinetic energy between the blades.

 

4. Pressure increase: As the turbine blades rotate, the fluid is forced through the flow channel and the pressure increases due to the conversion of kinetic energy of the liquid or gas. This causes the fluid to form a high-pressure area inside the pump.

 

5. Outlet: Once the fluid reaches the highest pressure point through the flow channel, it is pushed to the outlet and then enters the pipeline system or other equipment.

 

In general, the working principle of the turbo pump can be summarized as the turbine blades rotate and convert kinetic energy, drawing the fluid from the low-pressure area into the pump, and then pushing it to the high-pressure area and delivering it to the desired location.
